Abstract
The building of the self in the indigenous testimonies Mi Nombre es Rigoberta Menchú y Así me Nació la Conciencia and Pulotre. Testimonios de Vida de una Comunidad Huilliche, happens in a context of lost spaces for the transmission of their own culture. Although the testimonies let them keep the memories, it is evident that the ruptured cultures forced them to adopt alien discourses and practices. So because of that, it turns relevant that what is own becomes fundamental for the survival of the group.
