Strategies construction of audio-visual evidences or testimonies about human disappearances: in Argentina: The TV program "Nunca Más"

Abstract

This work probes into the first testimonies regarding forced disappearance of persons which were broadcasted on Argentinean television, on the program "Nunca Más" (Never Again). The analysis of these testimonies -their discourse and presentation- enabled us to study the way testimony, image, and truth are related, as well as tensions among them. This work also examines the difficulties which the National Commission on the Disappearance of Persons had to face during the democratic transition first years, while searching for an "adequate" language to narrate this limit experience by means of mass media --particularly, television.
